Hey friends, happy Wednesday 🙂 This week has already been so hectic with me trying to catch up on work that I slacked on while being sick and traveling. Y’all, I was in my office on Monday for 4 hours just answering emails and creating my to-do list for the week. I also took time to clean up my inbox by unsubscribing to over 30 newsletter/store lists/stuff I never signed up for in the first place and I feel AMAZING after doing that. I realized on Monday that I was receiving over 100 emails a day and most were not valuable to me in any way, so I had to let them go. As tedious as it was to get through all of them, I am just so grateful to be feeling well again and able to get work done. When I took a coffee and refresh break on Monday, I decided to redo my office for the new year! Y’all know how obsessed I am with my current office (see the post OFFICE), but definitely think that it is time make it a little cleaner and more functional. So, stay tuned for that in the next few weeks!
Today, I’m sharing this fun dress from All For Color styled for work and cocktail hour afterwards. Like 90% of my wardrobe, I try to only invest in pieces that I can name 3 times/places/occasions that I can style it before buying and this dress is no exception. The subtle v-neck and 3/4 length sleeve makes the dress easy to style for work or to dress down for cocktail hour, a summer dinner or afternoon church. This dress is incredibly warm and made out of a thicker material, which is great for wearing during the cooler seasons with a light jacket or no jacket at all. Just throw on a pair with pumps, classic jewelry and a black bag for business casual workplace. Add booties or wedges, statement earrings and a scarf for a simpler way to style for cocktail hour, a day on the town or for a quick date night.
Do y’all have your favorite pieces that you love to style for work and for play? Let me know what they are in the comments! Mine always include basic dresses, stretchy black skinny leg pants and cardigans. Shop this dress on sale for $53: HERE. -xo, Azanique <3
Hey friends! Happy, happy Wednesday to ya 🙂 I have been battling an awful cold for the past week and I am so ready to get to the weekend so I can get some much needed rest. When I came back from Atlanta last weekend, it was 30 degrees out and I had only gotten 20 hours of sleep in 4 days, so I know both of those factors have contributed to my prolonged sickness. Anyway, while I have been under the weather, I have crafting a list of my winter projects including making a wreath, redecorating my room, adding my diploma & other college regalia to the shadowbox (I graduated in May, oops) and so on. Plus, I was able to knock out 70-100 emails in just one day of being able to work from my couch. There really is no positive to being sick (besides getting to eat 6 cups a soup in a day and having no one judge you for it) but I’m thankful that I had enough energy to get through days of unread emails and got to snuggle with my pup all day while working.
Y’all, I feel like it has been forever and a day since I have shared a #WorkWearWednesday post, but I’m back today sharing a basic one. Some of the feedback I received from y’all was that you wanted to see work wear that has main focus/pop of color to add to your look styled with capsule wardrobe pieces, so that’s exactly what I have today. My work staples include these black pants, tank, shoes and silver watch. Whenever I want to style a more simple look or I have only 5 minutes to get ready for work, I throw on these staples + one statement top/sweater then head out. I immediately had to grab this sweater when I spotted it at Belk for only $22 and saw how it was made with the perfect winter material to keep me warm. With this sweater, you can add a tank top (like me), a long sleeve, a bodysuit or a button up and have multiple ways to style this same sweater all winter long. It is currently marked down for less than $25 for #CyberWeek, so I would totally jump on this sale while it is still hot! Well friends, that’s all that I have for y’all today! I hope that everyone has a lovely week and a beautiful Wednesday. -xo, Azanique <3
Hey, friends! Happy Wednesday to ya <3 Did everyone have a great weekend? I mentioned last week, that the next two weeks would be fairly busy for me so last weekend I got to relax and finally had time to unpack from my last trip and clean my house for fall. Monday, I got to enjoy a fabulous dinner with some North Carolina bloggers at The Cowfish in North Hills. Y’all, if you haven’t been there, I HIGHLY suggest you go right now. It was my first time going and I can promise you that I will be back again soon. I will share more about our entire experience next week, but I was just happy to be surrounded by great friends, laughter and great food. One thing that I have quickly learned in the blogging world is that you have to have a support team. It doesn’t matter if they are your actual accountability partners or just people you can laugh with, but you need them there. I am always so grateful to have found so many great pockets of friends and gal pals through the blogging world that continually are there for help and to be helped!
In case you missed it, I decided to continue my #WorkWearWednesday series for a little bit because honestly, I just couldn’t get enough. So, today I’m back sharing some of my favorite work wear staples in one look. 1. The Harper pants from Old Navy. These pants are a must for your work wardrobe. I love that they are straight leg capri cut because with being short, work regular pants are usually too long but capri fall at the perfect spot on my leg. 2. Classic nude pumps. These may a bit obvious, but I run into so many girls that don’t have a classic nude heel that they can wear for work, church, special events and everyday. This pair is from Old navy, but Sam Edelman makes a super comfy pair that is a bit more expensive and the same pair in black. Basic tees are an absolutely must for any type of capsule wardrobe and I usually get mine from Target when they are 3 for $12 or on a similar sale at Old Navy. So, those are my main staples, but my classic jewelry, such as my Kate Spade watch and colorful stretch bracelets from Cynthia01 Designs. What are your work wear staples? Let me know in the comments 🙂 Thanks for reading y’all. xo, Azanique <3
